The current state of society being so connected to their cell phones reminds me of a Stargate SG-1 episode called "Revisions" (season 7, episode 5) where everyone wears a device on their heads to connect them to all the information they could need, but it also secretly controls them.

Was having one of those days (or years) where it felt like everything wasn't working out. I am usually a firm believer that I only need 'just enough light for the step I'm on'. However, today, I cant even see my feet let alone whats in front of me. You video was really touching and gave me a candle to keep going up the staircase :)

Hey there Im in the same boat as well.. every day is a struggle. Every morning its a battle that im fighting q myself that nobody knows anything about. I just wanna be myself. I just wanna feel myself. I wanna be authentic. I wanna be genuine. I wanna live life just ans not be in a bubble and stuck inside a room..i always avoid meeting my friends and socializing..avoid family events, social gatherings. I wanna live. I wanna live my bessst life thats all Please help me... Ive heard its also because of our brain sturcture- like neurons and also a large amygdala.. and also brain chemistry that affects its functioning

Honourable mentions include Bern, Schaffhausen, Strasbourg, Metz and Luxembourg, all within a relatively easy reach from Dusseldorf, where I plan to be staying for my first Interrail trip.

I think a lot of people don't realize they actually have a problem with social, I was born in 2002 I remember before I was fully entrapped in the social media sphere I used to play outside I was happier, than started playing video games, watching RUclips for hours now I'm 21 turn 22 this year I want to learn guitar and significantly improve my drawing because I'd like to be a tattoo artist, but when I spend all my free time on the internet watching youtube it doesn't benefit me or lead me to the life I actually want for my self. Social media is addicting and I think the majority of Gen Z is probably addicted and Gen A is probably screwed unless something happens or parents start parenting and not just giving kids an iPad. I got my first phone when I was in grade 9, most people around me had a phone by grade 5. My youngest cousins and cousins' kids have phones and are in grades 1 - 3 and I know kids that have phones in kindergarten. for me, Instead of cooking, I would doordash for convenience which also costs significantly more, instead of socializing I'd go to RUclips, instead of living my life I'd watch others live theirs through a screen. Before social media it was TV, the products that tend to sell the most are the ones that are the most addicting they also are the ones that will heavily limit how much you as a person can truly grow I don't like that we most likely are heading towards a future where most people are addicted to social media. It doesn't benefit our lives in any meaningful way and because it is such a flood of dopamine it's seriously messing with us. A lot of people are losing social skills not only because of what happened during the pandemic but also because we consume our lives being in front of a screen. It's not a healthy way to live, it's not what I'd even really call living you just kinda exist and go to work, get home, consume content repeat. These apps are designed to be addicting and profit off you, the more we give into them the more likely we are heading into a future so detached from others around us where we only socialize in digital spaces. To me that sounds like it will just cause a massive depression globally, social media already hurts social skills and makes people feel depressed I think very few people feel proud when they spend all day consuming mindless content. realizing that it is limiting your potential if I sunk all the time I spent on youtube into something productive I'd be the best at it, not that you need to give all your spare time to things you want to learn but we can learn a lot more away from social media
